COUNTA

Just a simple Excel formula tonight, because it's been an awfully long couple of weeks, and there's more work to do this weekend.

COUNTA can be used to count the number of empty cells in a designated array, or the number of cells depending on whether you use a comma or a colon Enter =COUNTA(A1,A16) and it will count the number of empty cells from A1 to A16, and enter =COUNTA(A1:A16) and it will count the number of cells with text.

COUNTA will work on any array, not just columns.
