e-Discovery Presentation Tonight

Tonight I attended an event hosted by the New York City Paralegal Association at the offices of Nixon Peabody on Madison Avenue. It was a presentation on, "e-Discovery and Information Governance: Cloud Computing, Mobile Devices, Social Media and other Potential e-Discovery Nightmares…" with a panel that included Scott Gibbs of Direct Data Discovery and others. See: http://www.nyc-pa.org/event-2052024 . Gibbs provided a couple of very helpful tips with respect to electronic discovery from smart phones. Any data stored in the RAM of an iPhone will be lost if the phone is powered off. (iOS devices have another type of memory called NAND Flash from which data can be recovered after a device is shut down.) Metadata can also usually be recovered from SQL databases on smartphones.
