Keep in mind that many printers will only automatically print out on both sides of a page, if a separate duplexer is installed. This is the case with the widely used HP 600. The specs for a printer may state that it prints double-sided, but it may not do this automatically. The user may be required to re-feed the pages one by one.

The duplexer for the HP 600 will slide effortlessly in to the rear of the printer without the need to connect any cables, or tighten any screws. Beware of the fact that an ordinary power cord with a straight head can't be used with the duplexer. You'll need a cord with a right angle head like this one:

A standard power cord will prevent you from sliding the duplexer fully into position.

When printing PDFs it's possible to experience a postscript error. (Postscript is a page description language that allows for on the fly rasterization which interprets text and images as straight lines and curves.) The first several pages of the print-out may appear normal, but the document can be cut off at the end with missing pages and a final blank page with an odd message at the top left:

ERROR: undefined

OFFENDING COMMAND: &-2~

STACK:

When a got this error message at the end of a PDF print-out today (the PDF itself worked normally) I was able to fix this problem and print the full hard copy by accessing the advanced settings for the printer. Disabling the setting for "PostScript Pass through" (on a Konica Minolta 558) did the trick.

The Printliminator is a bookmarklet that can be used to customize print versions of web pages. I tested it tonight with with Internet Explorer. It's available at, https://css-tricks.github.io/The-Printliminator/ . Simply drag the bookmarklet onto the links part of the browser (in IE look for the yellow star icon on the left.)

When you click on the bookmarklet a small dialog box will appear. If you select 'ADD PRINT STYLES', red boxes will appear around the various sections of your current web page. Clicking on any one box will remove it from the browser. If you press ALT and click on a red box it will be isolated in the browser so you can print just it alone.

Ignore the option in the Printliminator dialog box to 'SEND TO PRINT'. Instead use the regular print function in your browser.
