Kovel Arrangements

Kovel arrangements extend attorney-client privilege to communications with experts. U.S. vs. Kovel (296 F.2d 918 (2d Cir. 1961), reversed a contempt conviction against an accountant who refused to respond to a subpoena about his discussions with a client he was hired by a law firm to advise.

Communications made with an agent of an attorney to facilitate the process of giving legal advice are also privileged.
