Extract Specified Ranges from Multiple Workbooks

Extract Specified Ranges from Multiple Workbooks

October 10, 2017

Ron de Bruin has posted some very useful VBA code to the MS Office Developer Network here:  https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc837974(v=office.12).aspx

If you have a folder of Excel files and want to copy a specified range from each workbook into a single master workbook this macro will help.

Simply enter the path for the folder containing your files on the line beginning My Path, and then set the range on the line which starts, "Set sourceRange = .Range".   On the line above you need to enter the number of the worksheet you are collecting data from: With mybook.Worksheets(1)

Note that in order to get the macro to work you need to insert it into a module for a worksheet of your master workbook, not the workbook itself.

The macro lists the name of the source file in the first column.

Sub MergeAllWorkbooks()
    Dim MyPath As String, FilesInPath As String
    Dim MyFiles() As String
    Dim SourceRcount As Long, FNum As Long
    Dim mybook As Workbook, BaseWks As Worksheet
    Dim sourceRange As Range, destrange As Range
    Dim rnum As Long, CalcMode As Long

    ' Change this to the path\folder location of your files.
    MyPath = "C:\FooFolder\baseball"

    ' Add a slash at the end of the path if needed.
    If Right(MyPath, 1) <> "\" Then
        MyPath = MyPath & "\"
    End If

    ' If there are no Excel files in the folder, exit.
