Temporary Internet Files

Temporary Internet Files contain data on the addresses of web sites accessed with IE and the exact time they were accessed. The information is similar to that contained in the 'WebCacheV01.dat' file described in last night's tip. in Internet Explorer 11 you can view these files by clicking on the settings cogwheel icon . . . Internet Options . . .the General tab . . . Settings . . . View Files.

The site of this cache folder can be changed. In order to make sure that you have the location correct go here in Registry Editor:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

. . . and right click on the Cache file and select 'Modify'. The path containing the user's temporary internet files folder will be displayed. See Digital Detective as a source for this information.
